CuproShield Cu-56(X)

Column:Copper Protective Agent

Introduction

CuproShield Cu-56(X) is a copper silver protective agent. It is a water-soluble copper protector, and it can prevent surface oxidation of chemical copper plating, silver plating, electroplated copper, or other copper silver and copper alloys. It is especially suitable for providing anti-discoloration to copper and silver surfaces. The protective film formed by CuproShield Cu-56(X) is colorless and transparent, which can greatly improve the anti-corrosion ability of copper and silver surfaces after use. CuproShield Cu-56(X) does not contain chromate, so it will not cause pollution to the environment. It is also economical to use.
CuproShield Cu-56(X) can also be used in the final water wash after copper and silver plating, which can maintain the fresh color of the workpiece surface without oxidation. The surface of a workpiece treated with CuproShield Cu-56(X) needs to be washed three more times.
The CuproShield Cu-56(X) protective film can be removed using CoaTech’s film remover. Subsequent electroplating operations can then be performed as needed.

Operating Method

The immersion of the workpiece in the CuproShield Cu-56(X) solution is the final step in the process before drying. After the CuproShield Cu-56(X) treatment, the workpiece needs to be washed with pure water three times. The workpiece must be cleaned, moistened, and be free of oil stains before entering the CuproShield Cu-56(X) solution. Since the CuproShield Cu-56(X) protective agent has no cleaning effect, a protective film will not form on surfaces with stains.

Equipment

The CuproShield Cu-56(X) protective agent solution must be stored in stainless steel, fiberglass, plastic, PVC lined steel, PE, or PP tanks. If a steel groove is used, it will rust and affect the formation of the CuproShield Cu-56(X) protective film. The heater can be made of quartz, stainless steel, or TEFLON material. It is recommended to equip the production line with an exhaust system.

Control and Maintenance

The CuproShield Cu-56(X) protective agent generally does not require a predetermined solution change per liter of processed area. If the workpiece is prone to oxidation, this may indicate that the effective components of the solution are low or contaminated, and thus should be replaced. An analytical method (UV analysis) can be utilized if necessary.

Waste Liquid Treatment

CuproShield Cu-56(X) contains non-ionic surfactants dissolved in water and organic compounds in water, and it contains metals after use. Discharge of waste liquid must be treated according to local standards.
